Lowell Tennyson, 81, of Blue Grass, IA, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on January 30, 2024. The family will receive guests from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, February 2, 2024. A funeral service will take place at Weerts Funeral Home 10 a.m. Saturday, February 3, 2024. Lowell will be laid to rest at Blue Grass Cemetery. Lowell was born on June 15, 1942 to parents Mildred (Stuhr) and Louis Tennyson in Davenport, IA. He graduated from Davenport High School and served in the United States Navy. Lowell worked for 31 years at the Rock Island Arsenal as an Equipment Specialist, he retired in 1993. It was there at the arsenal, that he made dear friends and met the woman who would become his wife.
On Valentine’s Day in 1986, Lowell married the love of his life, Sandra Schroder. Together, they shared in the many ups and downs of life and reveled in each other’s company through it all. Among the activities they enjoyed was camping, genealogy and ham radio county hunting. Lowell’s call was “KB0BA”. He was a member of Legion Post 711, NMLRA, Mobile Radio Club, and Amateur Radio. Lowell enjoyed reading books and expanding his knowledge whenever he could.
Those left to carry on his memory include his wife of nearly 38 years, Sandra Tennyson; sister-in-law, Judy Schroder; brother-in-law, Alan (Nora) Schroder; daughter, Julie Tennyson; two very special nephews, Bryan (Kerri) Schroder and Steven (Vicki) Schroder; grandnephews, Brandon and Ryan; grandnieces, Karlyn and Bailey; great-grandnephews, Nathan and Aiden, and great-grandnieces, Natalie and Claire.
Lowell was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Janell Tennyson Marshall and Scott Louis Tennyson, and his brother-in-law, Wayne E. Schroder.
