Mae Carroll, 86, passed away peacefully at home on September 22, 2024 in Clinton, IA. A funeral service will be held 12 p.m. Friday, September 27, 2024 at Weerts Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude at the time of service. Mae will be laid to rest at Forest Home Cemetery in Forest Park, IL at a later date. Mae was born on April 29, 1938 in Chicago, IL to parents Elsie (Doerbandt) and Fred Harris. In 1956, Mae married James Boyd and together they had 7 children. They later divorced. Mae worked as a Certified Nursing Aid for many years, proudly lending a helping hand to those in need. For much of her career, she was employed at Good Samaritan Society.
If there’s one thing you ought to know about Mae, it’s that she would go to the ends of the earth for her family. As a single mother of 7, she worked tirelessly to provide for her children. In later years, she got to enjoy the fruits of her labor by travelling with her loved ones and cruising the seas. In her spare time, Mae loved to go bowling, play bingo, and scrabble.
Those left to honor Mae’s memory include her children; Dennis Boyd, Clinton Boyd, Kevin Boyd, Steven Boyd, Albert Boyd, Coleen (David) Rehr; 13 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
Mae was preceded in death by her parents; sister, June; brother, Albert, and son, James Boyd.
