Marian Jean Graves

Marian J. “Granny” Graves, 83, of Buffalo, Iowa passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 8, 2014 At Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, in Davenport. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Monday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Buffalo. Memorials may be made to the Buffalo Food Pantry. Online condolences may be made at www.rungemortuary.com. On August 31, 1951 she married Donald Graves in Grundy County, Iowa. He preceded her in death on October 25, 2010.

“Granny” was employed by TPC prior to her retirement. Proud to be left-handed, she had been awarded penmanship citations and was a member of the National Honor Society. She especially enjoyed celebrating the 4th of July with family and friends, although she always welcomed everyone as “family”.

Survivors include daughter, Nancy Roe, son Carl (Nancy) Graves, son-in-law Bill Petersen; grandchildren: Sara (Allen) Glover, Casey (Kristi) Roe, Stacy (Robert) Palmer, Tom (Miranda) Petersen, Lukie Roe, Chris (Kassie) Graves, Jacob (Dani) Graves, Mallory (Robert) Bartleson; 17 great grandchildren: Tyler, Alex, Ella, Sydney, Molly, Piper, Ethan, Samuel, Sylvia, Nora, Liam, Audrey, Kayleigh, Addison, Nicole, Jessica and Ryan; great-great grandchildren Remington and Aleigha; sister LaVonne Stirler and two brothers, Pork and Jack Stumberg. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Jo Petersen, son-in-law Leslie Roe, her parents, Jake and Ethel (Ash) Stumberg, sister, Margaret and brothers Donald, Raymond and Robert Stumberg.
