Funeral services for Martha “Marty” Calvert, 89, of Davenport, will be 2:00 pm on Saturday at St. John’s United Methodist Church. Davenport. The Family will greet friends at the church on Saturday from 1:00 pm to service time. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery.Marty passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.Martha Marie Benson was born on May 4, 1920 in Sheffield,PA, the daughter of Charles and Elvina (Anderson) Benson. She married Bert Edward Calvert in 1957 at St. John’s United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on November 19, 1979.Marty worked as a Church Secretary at St. John’s for 5 years until their only daughter, Kirsten was born in 1958. Marty was an active member of St. John’s. She enjoyed gardening and was a wonderful homemaker. She had a kind and loving heart, and a ready smile for everyone.Survivors include her daughter Kirsten (Jerry) Jackson of Waukee,IA, two grandsons, Alec Jackson, 15 and Thomas Jackson 13, both of Waukee,IA, sisters; Opal Okerwall and Winifred “Winnie” Benson both of Sheffield,PA, Mag Eklund of Minneapolis, MN., and a dear and loving friend, Waneeta Buck.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters.Memorials may be made to the Clarissa C.
