Marvella Meyer

Marvella Meyer, 85, of Walcott, died Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Manor Care, Utica Ridge. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 10:00 am at the Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Friday, from 4-7 pm at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Walcott Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Walcott Fire Department or the Walcott Welcome Park.

Marvella was born June 16, 1926 in Scott County, IA, the daughter of Hugo and Alma (Risch) Ruwe. She was united in marriage to Clemens J. Meyer on April 27, 1949 in Davenport, IA. He preceded her in death on July 18, 1994. Marvella worked as a bookkeeper for Priester and Company Investments for many years before her retirement. She was a past member of the Walcott Pythian Sister Temple #192 and a member of Walcott Royal Neighbors, Plus 60 Club, Genesis Auxiliary and ASHHS (American Schleswig-Holstein Heritage Society).

Those left to honor her memory include her children: Mary Jo (Larry) Southwick, Davenport, IA; John Meyer, Wyoming, IA; Marty (Becky) Meyer, Walcott, IA; Jill Cook, Davenport; grandchildren: Charles (Lisa) Cook; Carey Cook (Louis Behrens); Stephanie Meyer and Jason Meyer; great grandchildren: Dallas Cook and Alexis Price. Her parents preceded her in death.
