

Mary Ellen Jackson was born September 19, 1920 in Davenport. In 1938 she married Clifford N. Jackson and they were blessed with 10 children: James (Donna), Tuscon; Carol Ann Fisher, Naperville, IL; Sharon Ann (deceased); Diane (Chuck) Stanger, Davenport; Susan Marinan (Warren Mason), Davenport; Danny (Dorothy), Davenport: Michael (Kathy), Buffalo, NY; Craig (Sheryl), Davenport; Kimbra Parry, Davenport; Leslie Ann (Gary) Dennison, Chatsworth, CA. Mary Ellen was proud of her 29 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren. Clifford and Mary Ellen enjoyed 56 years of marriage until his passing on their anniversary in 1994.
Throughout her life, Mary Ellen gave generously of her time as a volunteer. She helped to establish the PTA organization at St. Anthony’s School, and was active in both the Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. While in Phoenix, she managed a hospital gift shop and served as an election day poll worker. Mary Ellen was very creative. She was an excellent seamstress and successful in many crafts such as pottery, ceramics, counted cross stitch, and painting. Her favorite pastime was to play cards and other games with her children and grandchildren. Her favorite holiday was The Feast of St. Nicholas (December 6th).
In 1974, Mary Ellen and Clifford moved to the Phoenix, AZ area with their two youngest daughters. She returned to Davenport in 2008 and lived at the Clarissa Cook Home. On April 18th, she passed away peacefully at her home with several loving family members present. Her friends and family were blessed to have her guidance and love.
