Mary Jane Johnson

At age 94, she was just short a couple of months from celebrating her 95th birthday. She was born during the Great Depression to Charles Sr. and Cora Lamberson on February 18th, 1931. She was raised on a farm in rural Iowa where life was hard and never a shortage of work to be done. This contributed to her being a very hard worker her entire life. She married Howard McCartney at 18 and they had 5 children by the age of 26. She spent the first 20 years of her marriage living in LeRoy, Iowa. Life was once again very hard. With her modest beginnings, this contributed to her becoming a person who always put others first. Later in life if she met someone in need she was always eager to help because she knew what it was like to do without. If someone needed help she was always the first one to volunteer. Known for her kindness by all who knew her. She will be remembered by her children, grandchildren and others for her extreme generosity and giving nature. She was a World Class mother, always setting an example of how to be. She never complained about hard work. She enjoyed going dancing in her later years until she was no longer able. She dedicated 20 years of her life calling for Disabled Veterans, stopping only at age 84 when she could no longer continue. She was loved and remembered by many of those that she called. There was always a smile in her voice when you talked to her on the phone. She was happy to hear from you. Her children inherited her loving and giving spirit.

She leaves to cherish her memory, son David and wife Cathy McCartney, daughters Mary McCartney, Marge Paplham

and husband Keith. She also had 6 grandchildren she was very proud of; Scott McCartney, Justin McCartney , Patrick McCartney and Tyler Paplham, Johnathon and Jason Johnson along with two great grandchildren Kaiden and Dylon.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Charles, Dean, Wayne

sisters Delores and Loraine plus two children Larry and Becky

McCartney and one grandchild Ryan Johnson. She was the last of her generation.
