Mary Ann Wohlers

She married Arthur (Art) W. Wohlers on January 27, 1951. He preceded her in death on March 28, 1999. Together they had four children. Her daughter, Sue Ann preceded her in death on July 25, 1957. She is survived by Arthur J. (Cynthia) Wohlers of Bisbee, Arizona, Richard D. (Lynn) of Blue Grass, Iowa, Kristine (Randal/Fuzzy) Teel of Blue Grass, Iowa. She has three grandchildren: Kinsey and Ricky Wohlers and Trey Teel.

She attended Davenport Schools and Northern Iowa Teaching College. She taught kindergarten through eight grades at Sand Hill, a one-room country schoolhouse. She also taught class at Glendale Elementary School in Montpelier, Iowa. She then became a stay-at-home mother.

When her children were young, she was involved with and led Cub Scouts, Campfire Girls and Brownie troops. She was very active in her church, and some other activities included Luther League, Women’s Circle, and Altar Care. She also spent five years on the Board of Good Samaritan.

Art built their family home on the Mississippi River near Montpelier, Iowa. They enjoyed camping with their children and hosting picnics at their home, especially for church groups and residents of Good Samaritan. In retirement, they traveled to the Western States and were part of a gold mining club in Arizona. She enjoyed golfing and belonged to two golf leagues; she also enjoyed painting, playing cards and dancing.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church in Davenport, and visitation will be one hour prior to the service. The service will be followed by a luncheon at the church. Interment will be a private family service at Rock Island Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or Wilton Retirement Community, Iowa.
