Maxine (Vaughn) Smith

Maxine (Vaughn) Smith, 93, of Davenport, passed away Monday, August 23, 2021 at Davenport Lutheran Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 2 pm at The Runge Mortuary with visitation starting at noon. Her final resting place will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Maxine was born February 22, 1928 on the family farm in Decatur County, IA. She was the daughter of Ottie and Coral (Curry) Vaughn. She married Lee Smith in 1948, who died July 19, 1995.

She had worked as a surgical tech at the former St. Luke’s Hospital for over 35 years prior to her retirement. She loved to crochet, read and embroider and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Basketball fan. She was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church in Davenport.

Those left to honor her memory include her children: Larry (Beverly) Smith, Walcott, Gary (Joan) Smith, Highlandville, MO and Paula (Laurel) McIntosh, McCausland, IA, grandchildren: Rachel Smith, Brad and Ryan Smith and Matt McIntosh; great grandchildren: Abbi Smith, Charlie, Jake and Samantha Crouse and Cylar Smith; sister, LaVeda (Jim) Thompson, Stockton, CA and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, sisters, Dorothy and Madelyn and brothers, Raymond and Darrell preceded her in death.
