Melba M. Bennett, 87, of Davenport passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the Davenport Lutheran Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 11:30 am at the Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:30 am until the service, at the mortuary. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family. Melba was born November 10, 1925 in Sumner County; KS, the daughter of Edward and Myrtle (Porter) Starlin. She was united in marriage to George Bennett on November 25, 1951 in Oklahoma. They were married for fifty years before he preceded her in death in 2003.
Those left to honor her memory include her step-son, Patrick (Beverly) Bennett; step-daughters: Jean Marie (Warren) Shane and Janet Bennett; one sister Joan Reese; seven step-grandchildren: Eddie, Kathy, Kristy, Darla, Lori, Steve and Jennifer and many great grandchildren.
Melba was preceeded in death by her daughter George Ann King, and many brothers and sisters.
