Nancy (Witt) Bosco was born on February 16, 1933, in Davenport, Iowa to parents Theresa and Charles Witt. She graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1951 and was a gifted singer with bands throughout her lifetime. A performance with the Hal Wiese Orchestra led to one of her starring roles, catching the eyes (and ears) of sax player, Robert Bosco. Later, they married on May 11, 1957 and grew their family with two children and many treasured pets. They shared 66 years traveling through the simple pleasures of Quad City life together.
Although anybody that listened to Nancy’s voice on stage raved about her talent, it was the role of audience member that brought her the most joy. She was a passionate fan of music and old movies, but Nancy’s favorite spots in the audience included views such as watching her clan play sports, perform in concerts, participate in holiday traditions, or fill their bags and hearts at Popcorn Charlie’s. The coins, candy, laughter, and love flowed freely when Grandma was around, and her investment in quarters for the crane game at Denny’s was only matched by her total investment in the lives of all of her kids. Nancy forever influenced the way her family members experienced the world, and she gave each of them confidence to move forward on their own unique paths.
Nancy Ann Bosco is still in the audience with the best seat in the house, quietly cheering on those left to carry on her legacy including: her loving husband of 66 years, Robert Bosco; children, Bob (Cathy) Bosco, Robin (Todd) Letney; grandchildren, Blake (Samantha) Letney, Brady Letney, Brandon Letney, Scott Bosco, Hannah Bosco; great-grandchildren, Ryker, Asher, Natalie, and one great-grandchild on the way; best friend and sister Delores Tracy, and many dear nieces and nephews. Nancy’s love may now appear in a different form, but as the lyrics to the theme of her favorite and final movie suggest, it is ageless and evergreen.
