Patricia J. Hopwood

Mrs. Hopwood passed away Tuesday, Sep 13, 2022, at Genesis Medical Center, with her children at her side.

Patricia Jane Edgar was born to John and Thelma Edgar on March 9, 1940 in Davenport, IA.

She married Raymond Emler in 1955 and they had six children. She married Jack Hopwood in 1974 and they had two daughters.

Pat was a stay-at-home mom until her children went off to school. She then returned to college and earned a degree in accounting. She formerly worked for LRC Electronics.

Patricia enjoyed sewing, embroidery, quilting, crocheting, adult coloring, reading, old black and white movies and playing cards with her friends at Luther Crest. She belonged to the Luther Crest Quilting Club and made many quilts and blankets for the children at the U of I Children’s Hospital. She loved gatherings where she could be with her large family.

She is survived by her children; Cyndi Emler-Hintz (Mike), Bettendorf; Mike (Christa) Emler & Barbara (Gene) Kaufman, Davenport; Lynn (Scott) Petersen, Low Moor; Carol (Greg) Thumma, Coggon, IA and Fran Carlisle, Tylertown, MS; 20 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband Jack, her parents, sisters Judy & Jerri, brothers John & Dean, sons Paul & Don, grandson Donnie, and great grandchildren Treyton, Kayleigh, Peyton and Gracie.

Memorials may be made to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
