Paul was born on April 18, 1944, in Springfield, Illinois, to Jerome and Dorothy (Anderson) Goulet. On December 20, 1986, he was united in marriage to Beverly Thompson. They have enjoyed 39 years together. Paul was a Vietnam Veteran. He served in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam, Okinawa, and the Philippines from 1964-1968. Paul retired in 2008 from MidAmerican Energy Riverside Generating Station after 40 years of service.
Paul was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa. He was a man of faith, with strong Christian values. He exemplified his faith through his words and actions, even sharing his love for Christ on a mission trip to Venezuela. Paul enjoyed time with his family and dogs, traveling the world with his wife, and cheering on the Chicago Bears and the University of Iowa Hawkeyes. He was an avid fisherman and especially enjoyed his twice-yearly trips to Canada, one with his buddies and one with his wife, and any opportunity to go fishing with his family. They say you can't choose your family, but Paul chose his. He and Bev did not create a blended family, they formed their family.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Bev; his children, Amber (Joe) Long and Kyle (Tabitha) Hendricks; his grandchildren, John Stafford and Sydney (Josh) Blocker, Jordan, Alexis, Adam and Johanna Long, and Anthony and Benjamin Hendricks; great-grandchildren, Margo and Maverick Blocker; sister, Jackie (Lloyd) Newlon; close friends, Jerry Bellman and Jim Wright; and his furbabies, Sweet Pea and Ozzie.
Paul was preceded in death by his son, Mark Treanton, his daughter, Shannon Goulet; his grandson, Alec Stafford; his brother, Dave Goulet; his sister, Jan Mohr; and close friend, Dave Kautz.
