Peter “Pete” Cummings, 72, of Davenport, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 with his wife and nephew at his bedside after a long, courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. A funeral service to honor his memory will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, 4:00 pm at Weerts Funeral Home; visitation will be held before the service beginning at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Pete’s name may be made to Dr. Brent Ohl Pancreatic Cancer Fund or to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
Pete was born on October 17, 1952, in New York, New York; he was adopted as a baby by his parents, Fred and Edna Cummings. After graduating from high school, he worked in an automobile dealership parts department. He also loved computers and technology and worked in IT for many years before he retired. He was united in marriage to Janet Luebke on October 17, 1992. Peter enjoyed spending time outside working on various projects; he also enjoyed going out and shooting guns at the gun range. He was a member of the Milan Rifle Club.
Those left to honor Pete’s memory are his wife of 32 years Janet, his sister Liza (David) Seward, brother Tony (Jessie) Cummings, mother-in-law Mary Luebke, sister-in-law Jeanne Batman, brother-in-law Jim (Michelle) Luebke, many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and a core group of loyal, cherished friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Edna, and his brother, Paul Cummings.
The family wishes to thank the University of Iowa cancer specialists, the Quad City MercyOne Genesis Hospice nurses, and the Clarissa C. Cook medical team for their expert care.
