Phyllis Ann Shaffer

Phyllis Ann Shaffer, 75, of Davenport, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport. Cremation rites have been accorded. In accordance with Phyllis’s wishes, there will be no viewing or service. There will be a visitation at the Runge Mortuary on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 from 4 to 7 pm for her friends to spend time with her family. Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com. Phyllis A. Grant was born March 21, 1937 in Harrisburg, IL, the daughter of Charles and Mary Grant. She later moved to Dubuque, IA where she completed high school. She graduated from St. Luke’s School of Nursing, practicing some thirty-five years as an RN at Genesis Health Systems. She later received her Bachelor’s Degree in nursing from St. Ambrose University. She married Charles Shaffer on June 17, 1961 in Dubuque, IA. She was a fifty year member of the Davenport Order of Eastern Star Chapter #178. She loved to travel, particularly to Jamaica, Mexico and Hawaii. She held a special place in her heart for her visits to Ely, MN and loved doting on her cats.

Phyllis is survived by her husband, Charles; son, Kenneth, LeCLaire; daughter, Nancy, Davenport and her brother, James Kent of Chino Hills, CA. Phyllis was blessed by a multitude of friends and always offered a helping hand to all.
