Raul Almanza

Raul “Rudy” Almanza, 58, formerly of Rock Island passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2018. The family will be having a private celebration of life at Sunset Marina at a later date. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com. Rudy was born on November 22, 1959 to Bonifacio and Gregoria (Mata) Almanza in Laredo, Texas. Rudy was owner of “Almanza's Upholstery Shop” in Rock Island and enjoyed being an upholsterer his entire life. Rudy enjoyed collecting model antique cars, loved music and played the drums. He was a volunteer at Robert Young Center, often times speaking to young people about substance abuse. He was very friendly and really enjoyed talking to friends, family and strangers. He always had a kind word and a smile for those around him. Those left to cherish his memory are his children: Rudy (Courtney) Almanza Jr., Desmond (Megan) Almanza, Emilio (Destiny) Almanza, Olivia (Nicholas) Novara and Samuel Almanza; grandchildren: Victoria, Isaac, Desmond Jr., Devon, Ysabella, Lilliana, Henry, Jiovanni, and Jeneo; sisters: Gloria (Pablo) Garcia, Hilda (Guillermo) Garcia, Sandra (Stephen) DePorter and Alicia (Martin) Carmona Garcia; and brother, Rogelio (Sylvia) Almanza. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Roberto Bonifacio Jr. Almanza, Ramiro Almanza, Gabriel Almanza, Roberto Almanza; and sister, Rosa Villarreal.
