Ray was born May 15, 1939 to Raymond T. Miller, Sr. and Bernette (Fahrenkrug) Miller in Davenport, Iowa. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1957-1962. He was united in marriage to Patricia “Patty” Martin and they enjoyed over 40 happy years together. He owned and operated Miller’s Barber Shop in Davenport for many years and continued to mentor young barbers throughout his life.
He enjoyed woodworking, restoring cars, and rebuilding antique barbershop chairs. He was always working on a creative project. He loved his children and grandchildren, checked in on them often with a phone call, or just stopped by – usually ending with his signature abrupt departure. He also enjoyed daily coffee with his friends and neighbors and was an active member in both his local American Legion and AMVETS group. He was one of those people that everyone knew and loved.
He is survived by his wife, Patty; children, Karen (Raymond) Lopez, Kim (David) Murphy, and Kay (Matt) Rehberg; sister, Mary (Dave) Hebeler; grandchildren, Chantel, Raymond, Nathan, Joe, Kevin, Slater, Ashton, Dustin, Anna, Kate, and Henry; three great-grandchildren, Lilly, Raelyn and Ryker and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; former spouse, Fern (Belz) Miller; children, Keith Miller (Maria), Kevin Miller, and Kathy Ellison; and grandson, Christopher Miller.
He is loved and will be missed.
