

Richard M. Dvorak, age 56, of Davenport, IA, was promoted to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, November 20, following a battle with cancer. Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 23, 2012 at Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion - Post #26. Those wishing to attend services at the National Cemetery should meet at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary in Davenport at 11:00 a.m. Following burial, a Celebration of Life Service will be held at Bettendorf Christian Church at 1:00 p.m.Richard was born to Richard E. Sr. and Avis Dvorak on June 12, 1956 in Belle Plaines, IA, and later moved to Davenport, IA. In 1976 he joined the United States Army and after receiving an Honorable Discharge, married Sharon Andresen-Gunsolus of Davenport, IA. Together they had two children, Michelle and Michael Dvorak. In 1984, he married Monica Ponce of Davenport, IA. His family and close friends remember him as someone who enjoyed telling jokes, playing the saxophone, and sharing the Gospel message with others. He shared his faith with his son and daughter throughout their childhood, and on October 25, 1986, they accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. He will be remembered with fondness to those who were close to him. Survivors include his wife, Monica Dvorak of Davenport, IA; a daughter Michelle Dvorak of Lynchburg, VA; a son Michael (Katie) Dvorak of Jefferson, WI; four grandchildren, Mikayla, Mason, Micah, and KinLeigh Dvorak of Jefferson, WI; a brother, Denny (Donna) Dvorak of Sioux City, IA; a sister, Judy Dvorak of Davenport, IA; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ronald Dvorak.
