Richard A. Hoffmann, 73, of Dixon, Iowa passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at his home. A funeral service to honor his memory will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, Davenport. Visitation will be Monday, April 1, 2024 from 4 – 7 p.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church. He will be buried at the Dixon Cemetery following the service. Memorials in Richard’s name may be made to the Dixon Volunteer Fire Department or to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
Richard was born April 2, 1950 in Davenport, Iowa to Allan and Jeanette (Bohnsack) Hoffmann. He was united in marriage to Judith Kuttler on October 9, 1981 at St. Mark Lutheran Church. After graduating from Augustana College in 1972, Richard worked for the Davenport Community School District as an accountant for 20 years. He later worked for the US Postal Service as a mail carrier and then as the Dixon Postmaster. Richard’s true passions were farming and his family. He enjoyed growing various flowers and vegetables, often spending many hours in the garden with his children and grandchildren. He was a devoted family man, who enjoyed taking every opportunity to support his children and grandchildren at their various activities. He enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and he was an active member at St. Mark Lutheran Church.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife of 42 years, Judy; children, Eric (Brittany) Hoffmann, Emily (Frederick II) Swihart, and Heidi (Travis) Claussen; grandchildren: Grant, Olivia, and Owen Hoffmann; Frederick III and Eli Swihart; Aiden and Ava Claussen; his mother, Jeanette Hoffmann; siblings, Thomas (Jolene) Hoffmann and Jan (Kevin) Garland; along with nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Allan Hoffmann.
