

DAVENPORT – Richard Daniel Treharne, 96, of Davenport passed away Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Genesis West Medical Center. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 4th at Runge Mortuary from 4 to 7 PM. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 5th at Ridgecrest Village Chapel at 1:00 P.M. Burial will follow at the Rock Island National Cemetery on the Rock Island Arsenal. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Davenport Public Library. Richard was born on October 28, 1914 in Davenport to Stephen and Cecelia (Braun) Treharne. After graduation from Davenport High School (Class of 1932), Richard worked as a bookkeeper until being inducted into the U.S. Army Air Corps for WWII, serving with the 835th Bomber Squadron in England and earning six Bronze Star awards. Following the war, he married Jeannette Mary Bieg in April 1946 and made his career in real estate and insurance. Upon retirement, Richard pursued his favorite pastimes of golf and family.
Those left to honor his memory include his two sons Stephen and Richard, six grandchildren (Andrea, Gregory, Jennifer, Stephen, Erika, and Catherine) and five great grandchildren (Dylan, Lauren, Sophia, Sabrina and Jake). Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Marion and his wife, Jeannette, of 63 wonderful years who passed away in February 2010. Together now with their memories living on.
