

Roland was born on January 24, 1943, the son of Leland Guthrie and Mary (Bish) Guthrie. He spent his life appreciating the quiet pleasures that brought him joy. He especially enjoyed listening to his hamm radio, fishing, and spending time outdoors. Some of his favorite moments were visits to the campground with Pam, Steve and family, where he found comfort in nature and could often be found watching the clouds. He also loved reading Louis L’Amour books and watching John Wayne western films.
Roland proudly served his country in the United States military from 1960 to 1964, working as an aircraft mechanic. His service reflected his dedication, skill, and strong work ethic.
He is survived by his children, Roland (Jill) Deney, Pamela (Steve) Penn, Tricia Natzke, and Romelle Showers; his sister, Dixie Jean; six grandchildren; three great-grandsons; three great-granddaughters; two stepsons, John and Terry Deney; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his children, Robert “Bob” Guthrie and Thomas “Tom” Guthrie; and his sister, Frankie.
