Ruby C. Wells

Ruby C. Wells, 86, of Davenport, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2022 at the Iowa Masonic Home in Bettendorf. Services will be Friday, December 23, 2022 at 12 pm at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Friday from 11 am until noon. Her final resting place will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may go to the American Heart Association.

Ruby was born in West Liberty, Iowa on October 2, 1936. She was the daughter of Vearl and Evelyn (Schell) Stratton. She married Paul Wells Jr. on June 21, 1955 in Davenport. He preceded her in death.

In earlier years, she had directed the Junior Choir and taught Sunday School at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Davenport. She was a diehard Cubs fan. In her free time she enjoyed bowling, quilting, crocheting, playing cards and vegetable gardening. Her greatest joy was her family and she loved to spend time with all of them.

Those left to honor her memory include her children: Theresa (Mark) Paff, Rock Island, IL; Paula (Bill) Phillips, Rock Island, IL; Paul (Velkys) Wells, III and Brian S. Wells (fiancé, Amy Brown), East Moline; grandchildren: Jennifer Toghraee, Emily Senn, Anna Crank, Alexander and Anthony Davis, Dustin Wells and Vicky, Gladys and Ruby Wells; 5 great grandchildren with one on the way and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ruby was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Wells, brother, Kenneth Stratton and sister, Lois Henkle.
