Ruth Moon

Ruth Moon, 85, of Moline, Illinois passed away on Monday, April 21, 2025 at Celebrate Senior Life Nursing Home in Moline, Illinois. Services to honor her memory will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025 at 12pm at Weerts Funeral Home; visitation will begin at 11am and go until time of service. Ruth will be buried at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials in Ruth’s name may be made to the family or charity of choice.

Ruth was born on February 7, 1940 in Eads, Tennessee to J.B. and Estella Jones. She was united in marriage to James H. Westerfield in 1961; they later divorced. Ruth later married Charles Moon on November 27, 1982; he preceded her in passing in 2003. Ruth enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, talking to her sisters, traveling, and spending time with her beloved family.

Those left to honor her memory are her sons Jeffery (Penny) Westerfield, James (Doris) Westerfield, and Jerry (Denise) Westerfield; grandchildren James Westerfield, Jr., Jaryd Westerfield, Jordan Westerfield, Jerry Westerfield II, Christine Atwater, and Prince Westerfield; two great-grandchildren; siblings Barbara (Willie) Holmes, Tommie Kirkendoll, and Nolan Jones; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Charles Moon; her parents J.B. and Estella; and siblings Joy Morrow, Gladys Jones, Classie Ella Johnson, Kathleen Smith, Charles Jones, Murry Jones, and JC Jones.
