

Stanley L. Freyermuth, 83, of Bettendorf, died peacefully Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 20, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until service time at the mortuary. Stanley was born March 19, 1928 in Muscatine, the oldest of six children to Elmer and Cornelia (Kurz) Freyermuth. He graduated from Muscatine High School while serving in the United States Army in occupied Japan. He was pleased to have taken part in an honor flight in November 2010. Upon returning from military service Stanley married Bettie L. Ross on September 3, 1948 and enjoyed 62 years of marriage. He worked at Alcoa for over 40 years as a technical supervisor and production engineer.
Stanley was a 32nd degree Mason, Past Master of Davenport Lodge #37, belonged to the Scottish Rite, York Rite, Shriner’s International, KAABA Temple, High Twelve #47. Mohassan Grotto, Trinity Chapter Eastern Star, The Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Alcoa Retirees, German American Heritage Society and the Plus 60 Club. One of the things he enjoyed most was driving children to the Shriner’s Hospital in Chicago. He was a generous and caring person and enjoyed helping children.
He is survived by his wife, Bettie, his daughter, Rev. Susanne Watson Epting, and her husband, Bishop C. Christopher Epting of Davenport, his grandson, Andrew Watson of New York City, his brothers, Paul of Muscatine, Virgil of Silva, Missouri, and sister-in-law, Verona, of Hazelton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister, and one grandson.
