Stephen R. Sample passed away quietly in his sleep at his residence in Rock Island on May 6, 2022. There will be a graveside service 9:30am Monday, May 16, 2020 at the National Cemetery Rock Island, IL where he will be laid to rest with his parents. Stephen was born February 7, 1951 in Rock Island, Illinois the son of Hilton and Kathryn Howard Sample. He lived his entire life in the Quad Cities, was an active member of the ARC community for most of his life, and was a resident of a group ARC home at the time of his death. He received special care and formed long lasting relationships while at the ARC attending day programs, working in the community and living in ARC group homes. His extended family would like to thank the ARC for their wonderful care of Steve. Steve loved watching old T.V. shows while sitting in his recliner wrapped in a big blanket. He had a dry sense of humor and a quick wit. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his cousins, Robert Stump and Brenda Sample Haferty.
