

Sterling C. Clark, 75, of Davenport, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. Funeral services will be Monday, November 29, 2010 at 1:00 pm at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Monday from noon until the service. Memorials may be made to the Clarissa C. Sterling was born September 26, 1935 in Baldwin, IA, the son of Alva D. and Dorcas (Scow) Clark. He was formerly married to Irma Current of Maquoketa, IA. He served in the US Army from 1955 until 1961. Sterling worked for Clinton Engines in Maquoketa and later retired from Caterpillar in Mt. Joy after many years of service. After retiring, he was a self-employed tree trimmer and enjoyed buying and rebuilding older homes. His main goal after retirement was to work for the security of his family’s future. He never wanted anything for himself, but, was always giving to others. His greatest joy was spending time with his family; however, he also enjoyed getting up in the mornings and going for coffee and donuts at Donuts & More and visiting with his friends there.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughter, Carol (Kurt) McDermott, Bettendorf, grandchildren: Tisha (Tom) Anderson, Mark (Kortney) McDermott, all of Bettendorf, Daniel McDermott, Iowa City, Kevin McDermott, Bettendorf and Brent McDermott, Davenport, five great grandchildren, sisters, Esther Burleson and Gloria Lingle and a brother, Floyd Clark. His parents, son Sterling Jr (October 1983) and nine brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
