Verna S. Stave

Private family graveside services will be held. She will be laid to rest at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Verna’s name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Mercy One Genesis Hospice. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.rungemortuary.com.

Verna was born on May 30, 1933, in Warren, Minnesota, to Wilmer A. and Ethel (Johnson) Laidley. She was a 1952 graduate of Warren High School. On April 11, 1969, she was united in marriage to Marvin Stave. They enjoyed 54 years of marriage until his passing in 2023. Verna retired from Mercy Hospital after 30 years in environmental services. She enjoyed walking, gardening, crocheting and baking for her grandchildren. Verna also enjoyed spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren’s activities.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Ronald Herberg, Dale (Jo) Herberg, Gwen Herberg, Daniel (Tressa) Herberg; grandchildren, Jill (Ryan) Brownell, Jake (Amanda) Herren, Marcea (Robert) Griggs, Christopher (Karri) Herberg, Rachel (Chris) Thennes, David Martel, Jordan (Kendal) Cosgrove, Taylor Herberg; 17 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandsons; sister in law, Melba Laidley; brother in law, Julius VanBaalen and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin; brothers, Donald Laidley, Willis Laidley; sisters, Marlys Helgeson and Eunice VanBaalen.

The family would like to thank Mercy One Genesis Hospice for all their love, care and compassion and especially daughter Gwen for always taking loving care of Verna.
