

Virginia Mae McBride, 78, affectionately known as Ginia Mae to most but to her siblings she was Cotton, was born to Olivia Alma Louise McBride and John Monroe on March 14, 1945 in Hannibal Mo. Virginia departed this earthly world on February 17, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.
Ginia Mae, mother to 11 was a woman of faith, she received Christ at a early age. Ginia Mae was an active member of Lutheran Church Eastside Mission, she knew whatever the Lord had for her she would receive. During her fruitful life, she enjoyed fishing, traveling, going to the casino and spending time with her family. She was well known for telling how she felt in the most boisterous, loving way. She became the first woman of color to work in the army reserve in Hannibal, Mo. Ginia Mae had a degree in business, along with numerous of other degrees. She obtained her CNA license and was a caregiver to many families that trusted her and became family.
Virginia was a kindhearted person that did not think twice about helping anyone in need whether it was a place to stay, shoulder to lean on, or just advice.
She was loved by many but the most love came from her siblings: Velma Walton, Archie Howard, Bessie (John) Brown, Johnny Howard, Danny (Verlina) Howard, Donna Reese, Janet Jenkins, Marla Clarke, Carla Bass, Connie Howard, Bonnie Roelandt, and Vera Howard.
Virginia leaves to cherish her memory her children and grandchildren: Steven Howard his children: Anthony, Vernonica, Timothy, Steven Jr; Angela Burrage her children Vanya, Robert (Kaylynn); Tarrell
Lorenzo Howard his children: Kendra, Logan, Alijah, Lorenzo Jr, La’Nayia; Mark Lue his children: Marquan, Jakwaun, Dejhon, Jaeon, Latoria, Charkita, Karmentae; Roderick Howard his children: Rodkayla, Roderick Jr; Renita Howard her children: Aticia (Kyle), DeMaine, Savanna, TreMaine, Retera; Kimberly Lue her children: Deshanique, Thomas Jr.; McKinley Lue his children: Lametrian, Kayviion, Unique, D’Von, McKinley Jr, Jaquan, Jaquez; Bernard Howard his children: Bernard Jr, Cassius, King, Caliyah, Kail, Elijah, Eric; Lewis Woodson his children: Lewis Jr, Lewtrevious, Khaliyah, Dametrius, Shamaury, Latavia, Amaurian, LewAijha, Kinte; Jamila Smith her daughter Kanottya; honorary son: Rodney Jones; goddaughter Marq'Kylie; special friends Andy and Marilyn Berkow; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Oliva and John; her brothers Robert McBride, Paul Jr and James Howard, James Walton; her sister Lola Howard; granddaughter Moana Lue, and great-grandson Tyrell Nelson, who held a special place in her heart; her godson Lance Howard; and her best friends Sara Bates and Rose M.
Funeral service to honor Virginia's life will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 1pm at Weerts Funeral Home; visitation will be before the service starting at 10am. Burial will be following the service at Fairmount Cemetery, Davenport. Following Burial Repass will be at Elks Lodge 4400 W Central Park Ave Davenport, IA 52804.
