Virginia B. Petersen, 92, of Davenport, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2011at Genesis West Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, November 16, 2011 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Petersen was born on April 2, 1919 in Cedar County, Iowa, the daughter of Paul and Christine (Goettsch) Gust. On February 2, 1946 she married Arlo V. Petersen in Davenport. Mr. and Mrs. Petersen farmed in the New Liberty area prior to their retirement in 1981. She was the family historian and enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family. Survivors include her husband, Arlo, daughters Mary (Kenneth) Stearns, of Milan, IL and Ruth (James) Sajban, of Lafayette, IN; 5 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Alice Mumm and Margaret Gust, and one brother, Harry Gust.
