A devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather has joined God’s kingdom. Wayne was born February 27, 1943 in Davenport to Harry “Pat” & Dolores (Mitchell) Landers. He was united in marriage to Rita J. Sourdiff on January 31, 1964. Wayne was the pillar of a wide ranging family; actively involved in foster care & adoption for over 40 yrs. He modeled the best aspects of humanity through his patience, wisdom, and love of others. Whether as a coach or a spectator and fan, Wayne was tireless in his support of children’s activities.
Wayne was a generous man who never met a stranger, just a new acquaintance. Wayne possessed a rapier wit and would infuse his lively humor into every story or conversation.
Above all, Wayne was a craftsman, with his hands and with his mind. Wayne operated Landers Upholstery with his wife Rita for nearly five decades; he was particularly fond of revitalizing antique furniture.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 49 years Rita; daughters Deanna (Mike) Rekemeyer and Jean McClure; son Patrick Landers; grandchildren Tony, Amber, Gabrielle, Kirsty, Noah, & Logan; Brother Tim (Nancy) Landers; and many extended family members including foster children, grandchildren & great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and a brother.
