Wells L. Gertrude

Funeral services for Gertrude L. Wells, 87, of Davenport will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2nd, 2014 at the Cunnick-Collins Mortuary Chapel in Davenport. The family will greet friends from 4:30 p.m. until service time at the mortuary. Burial and graveside services will be held at 10:00 on Wednesday at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Wells died on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at the Davenport Lutheran Home.Gertrude Louise Hoffbauer was born on August 16, 1927 in Blue Grass Iowa, the youngest daughter of Edward and Alvina (Schroder) Hoffbauer. On October 16, 1943 she married William B. Wells in Kansas City, MO. He preceded her in death in March of 1999.Gertrude had worked at the former Kimber Lanes in Bettendorf, worked as a painter at Candle Light Commons, taught bowling for many years, and was most of all Mom. One season a number of years back she maintained the highest average in the Iowa State Women’s Bowling Championships. She coached slow pitch softball, enjoyed horseback riding, and most especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.She is survived by – 2 Daughters: Patty (Mike) Guilfoyle of Bettendorf, and Chris (Larry) Park of Lady Lake, FL; 2 Sons: Richard (Bonnie) Wells of Riverdale, IA, and Tom (Lisa) Wells of Bettendorf; 8 Grandchildren; 11 Great-Grandchildren; and her very best and special friend: Robin Jasper.Those preceding her in death include her parents, her husband, 4 sisters: Lois, Imogene, Elaine, and Marjorie, and a brother Edward.Memorials may be made to the Davenport Lutheran Home.
