William “Terry” Cavett passed away unexpectedly Thursday, April 15, 2021. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, April 23, 2021 in The Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be held from 5-7 P.M. on Thursday at the Mortuary. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Council Bluffs, IA. Memorials may be made to The Habitat for Humanity.
Terry was born on July 27, 1940 to William “Bill” Cavett and Helen (Ager) Cavett in Council Bluffs. He attended Thomas Jefferson high school and met his wife, Carol Christensen, there when she was a freshman. They married in June 1962 and moved to Red Oak, IA, where he worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone.
They had two sons, Steven William and John Marvin. After being transferred, they moved to Davenport, IA, where Terry retired at age 49, later working at Home Hardware.
Terry was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, served as a member of the church council, as well as, property chairman. He loved to give back to his local community, having built 20 Habitat Homes, as well as, serving as a volunteer firefighter and EMT in Red Oak.
Terry also loved to fish with friends, Norbert Pranger and Scott Woodward, but did not like to eat them. He was a great man and will be missed by all.
Those left to cherish Terry’s memory include his loving wife of 58 years, Carol Cavett, Davenport; daughters-in-law, Lisa Cavett, Davenport and Rita Carpone, Nürnberg, Germany; granddaughter, Megan Cavett, Düsseldorf, Germany; grandsons, Brock Cavett, Riverside, CA, and Bryan (Kat) Williams, Camas, WA; great grandchildren, Cillian Allison and Kinley Williams; sister, Sherill Neve, Austin, TX; and niece, Susan Monaghan, Austin, TX.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, and two sons, Steve and John Cavett.
