Joan F. "Mama Joan" Bennett

Passed away peacefully on December 9, 2017 in Spokane, WA formerly of the Creston/Lincoln area. Joan was born on September 25, 1944 in Honolulu, HI to Yoshimoi and Sueo Nishida. Joan was a cook at the Creston School for 23 yrs. Before retiring. She is survived by her husband Larry Bennett at the home and five children Dee Dee (Chuck) Bender, Clara (Hubert) Gutierrez, Dixie (Bill) Graham, Jimmy (Deanna) Bennett and Randy (Angela) Bennett along with 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She has a brother James Nishida and a sister Katherine Ginoza and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter Tammy Jo, one grandson Trevor Bennett and four brothers. Joan loved to cook and loved people and children, traveling and living in Alaska but her family and grandchildren were most important to her. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. A Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held on Friday, December 15, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of STRATE FUNERAL HOME, DAVENPORT, WA.
