From November 11, 1939 to February 18, 2022
Marilyn was born in Colville, Washington in 1939. Family moved to Spokane around 1941-1942. She started school at Grant elementary and to high school at Lewis & Clark in 1954, where she graduated in 1957. She went to work for Spokane School District in 1958, working in the music department. This was the same year she came in contact with her future husband Alfred Morgan. They became engaged in 1960, and got married in September 1962. They first lived in an apartment and a house on south hill in Spokane.
Alfred graduated from Whitworth in 1963 and found a job with the International Harvester. Then in 1964, Al transferred to Sunnyside, WA she give up her music job. They moved to Kennewick, WA in 1968. Her daughter Rosemary was born in May, 1969. They left Kennewick in 1970 and back to Spokane, WA. Marilyn went back to the same job at District 81 in Spokane, as the music secretary. In 1974, Al transferred to Seattle with Reliance/United Pacific Insurance where she gave up her music job for a second time. And they moved to Alderwood Manor, WA.
When Rosemary started school, Marilyn became involved by volunteering at school. She also formed a brownie troop for girls, who Rosemary went to school with. This brought together many family friendships that still exist to this day. She was a great cook and bread baker. She won a bread baking contest in Seattle. Also, she did a wonderful family cookbook with pictures.
Al transferred then to Tacoma in 1979, they moved to Gig Harbor and then back to Spokane in 1982. Marilyn went back to work for District 81 for a third time, to have her same music job again. She loved her job, plus all the music teachers that she worked with for all the years as a music secretary. During this time, she also volunteered for the Youth Symphony. She wrote and created monthly newsletters for several years for Sons of Norway here in Spokane.
During all these years, she and her family and friends spent many days and some weeks boating and camping on Lake Roosevelt starting in 1964 to 1989. It was a great time watching the kids grow up. In 1994, they started building a new home on Lake Roosevelt at Seven Bays. Moved in, April 2000, and both retired that summer. They took the motorhome to Alaska in 2009 with their two grandsons for two months. Used the motorhome until 2010, then bought a winter home in Arizona until 2020, where they met more friends. Marilyn and Al mostly stayed at home in Seven Bays after 2020 until 2022, always having lots of friends over. Marilyn left us six months short of their 60th wedding anniversary. She was a great person loved by so many, plus had a great life in her eyes. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.strate-funeral.com for the Morgan Family. STRATE FUNERAL HOME, DAVENPORT, WA is in charge of arrangements.
