Dorothy Ann Smith

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 47 years, Keith Lee Smith; and eleven brothers and sisters.

She is lovingly remembered by her children: Dawn Michelle Smith, Kimberly Ann Gomez (Gil), Brian Keith Smith (Michael Long), and Eric Lee Smith (Carrie). Dorothy also leaves behind six cherished grandchildren: Gabrielle, Kennedy, and Fabio Hernani; Savannah, Jackson, and Logan Smith. She is also survived by her brother Pete Shiplett, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

A graduate of St. Mary’s School in Akron, Ohio, Dorothy married Keith in 1966. Their union began a lifelong dream devoted to her family. Her unwavering love for her children was evident in daily check-ins and nightly calls that kept them connected across the years.

Following the birth of her first grandchild, Gabrielle, Dorothy and Keith moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In time, all of her children joined them. Dorothy found deep joy surrounded by her family especially her treasured grandchildren. Her face would light up with every visit from those she called her “Angels.”

Dorothy’s life was a testament to enduring love and faith. She will be deeply and forever remembered by those who knew and loved her.

A celebration of life will be held in Akron, Ohio. The date and time will be announced at a later date.
