Etapa, Amanda Kay, age 41 of Kettering, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023. Amanda was many things to many people, but her favorite roles were Mother and Gigi. She was fierce, protective, loyal, and determined to raise four beautiful girls who would in turn love deeply and be their own bringers of joy. The other important role she gladly fulfilled was being the wife to a man who not only loved her for being the wonderful woman she was, but also loved her for who she brought along with her to share and build their rich lives. Amanda was also a dog lover who doted on her two big babies, Winchester and Mossberg. Her absence has been felt profoundly by all of her family, friends, and past and current coworkers.
Amanda is survived by the love of her life, her husband Eddie Etapa; also surviving are her daughters, Alexandria (Cameron) Hina of Anna, Payton Pierce of Kettering, Kentleigh and Brantleigh Pierce of Kettering; grandchildren, Jaxon and Harper Hina; mother, Brenda Rowe of Sidney; father, Doug Schmidt of Sidney; sister, Taylor (Mitch) Ahlers of Sidney, Kimberly (Ronald) Reineke, and many more dear family and friends.
We will think of Amanda during Bengals games, horror movies, during the Fall and Halloween season, in a cup of tea or coffee wrapped up in blankets on the couch, in a new book we started when there were so many already waiting to be read, when we sit on a beach, and most importantly when we cling to each other and love our own families well. We honor her by being devoted and attentive parents or being at least the type of person, who when asked to help, shows up every time ready to put in the work and laugh with you until it doesn’t feel like work anymore.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:30 am on Monday, November 27, 2023 at Tobias Funeral Home, 5471 Far Hills Ave., Dayton, OH 45429. A celebration of Amanda’s life will follow visitation beginning at 11:30. Online condolences and fond memories may be directed to: www.Tobiasfuneralhome.com
