

Ana Maye Gillespie, age 81 of Dayton, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Soin Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, SMSgt (Retired Air Force) Ernest Gillespie, in 1986 and her mother, Mamie Murphy. She is survived by her children: three daughters, Joyce Y. and husband Lee Whitaker, Jr. of Dayton, A. Michelle Gillespie of Beavercreek, Julie A. Gillespie of Beavercreek, and one son Eric Benjamin Gillespie and wife Tina of Dayton. Four grandchildren also survive her: Lauren and Jordan Whitaker, and Aaron and Marcus Gillespie; as well as a devoted niece Barbara Crosby of Pittsburgh, PA and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was born in Greensboro, NC on March 30, 1935. She was a graduate of Schenley High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh. She married Ernest Gillespie on June 2, 1956 in Pittsburgh, PA. She was employed in various capacities as staffing-specialist, pre-school teacher and teacher’s aide. She was a member of WPAFB Chapel 3. Friends may call on the family from 5-8 PM on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the Tobias Funeral Home Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 9 at 11:30 AM at the WPAFB Chapel 3 (Prairies Chapel), 682 Chapel Lane, Bldg. 6568, Dayton, OH 45433 with Minister Vanetta Bellows & Jeri Birnbaum officiating. Interment will follow in Dayton National Cemetery at 2 PM. Those who wish may make contributions to the Diabetes Association.
