My deepest sympathies to the Winchek family.  

I did not know Andy when I arrived on campus in 1986.  When we played our first game at the PE Building that year, I remember asking the upperclassmen (Lenny Lyons, Joe Jackson, James Jones, Rondey Webb and Henry Grace), who was the crazy guy at mid-court?  They laughed and said "that is the Raider Super Fan - his name is Andy!"  

Seeing Andy in the stands during my four years was as familiar and comforting as seeing Coach Underhill or Coach Brown on the bench, Greg Gahris on the radio or Gordon Wise on the PA.  His passion for WSU basketball was top-notch and was appreciated by everyone on my teams.   I vividly recall Andy stirring up the crowd when we needed it most.  His iconic positive presence will forever be missed.  

While I am sure family, friends and some other things were more important to Andy that WSU basketball, I am not aware of a more visible or important presence in the stands at the PE Building/Nutter Center over the years than Andy Winchek.

I had the pleasure of working with Andy at WPAFB for close to 30 years.  He was a great mentor, teacher, who loved  his country and the Air Force.  He will be greatly missed.

Cousin Andy--A Major fan of God,family,friends,and the Raiders!!You were a major lover of life and your personality was larger than life The world will be an emptier place without you.Many prayers are being sent upward to God,asking him to lessen the pain that your loved ones feel since your passing.Know how many hearts ache and also continue to love you!

Vera and Family. we were so sad to learn of Andy's passing and as members of the Wilbur Wright Class of '52, we share in your loss.  Our annual gettogethers have been such fun, and Andy's enthusiasm and dedication always made them happen.  Sorry we will miss services but thank you for sharing wonderful family photos through the years.

I am saddened by the loss of such a great person. I grew up with Nicole, who has been my best friend since we were 5 years old.  Living in the same neighborhood, we spent a lot of time together, and Mr. & Mrs. Winchek were like family. We have been a part of many life events together; graduations, weddings, baby showers. Andy and Vera were always there.  Mr. Winchek will be greatly missed. My love & prayers are with you all.

Vera and Family, as you know Andy and I go back quite a few years when we used to do the 50-50 raffle in the P.E. Building at Wright State. Ella and I are so sorry for your loss and you will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Andy was a very warm and caring friend.  He will be missed. I'm so sorry for you loss.
