Arlene Helen Deis age 92, passed away on December 6, 2025. She was born in Dayton, Ohio on February 22, 1933, to Carl and Mary (Brodowski) Hoyer who preceded her in death. Arlene was also preceded in death by Donald “Gene”, her faithful husband since June 4, 1955; sons John (2008) and Jeffrey (2007); daughter-in-law Cheri (2011); 5 brothers Harry, Walter, James, Norman and Earl; 2 sisters Wanda and Ellamae and sister-in-law Dottie Ward.
Arlene is survived by 2 daughters-in-law, Dawn Wood and Melissa Rabold; sister-in-law Lacreta (Lee) Hoyer and Joanne Hoyer; grandchildren Jacob (Stephanie), Zachery (Nicolina), Cecilia (Joseph), Staci (Matthew), Brandon and Destiny (Tyler); great grandchildren Jace, Wider, Aiden, Maverick, Zia, Banyan, Basilio, Fiorella and Ava and many close nieces and nephews.
Arlene graduated from Dayton CO-OP in 1951 but kept in contact with high school friends regularly for many years at Marions and MCL Cafeteria. Arlene had only 2 jobs after graduation, both in Dayton. One at Gustav Wiedeke Company and the other at Society of the Precious Blood of Priests and Brothers.
Her entire early years were very happy living only in East Dayton (as did “Gene” who was raised at St. Joseph Orphanage). Both faithfully attended St. Helen Parish for many years with many good neighbor friends who were considered a part of their family.
A Funeral Mass only will be held for Arlene on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Helen Parish, 605 Granville Place, Dayton, Ohio 45431. Inurnment will follow Mass at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio.
