

Bernard Lee George “Bernie,” age 88 of Washington Township, passed away July 20, 2024 in the presence of his beloved wife, Pauline, at the Stoney Ridge Senior Living Center. He was born on October 28, 1935 in Armstrong County, PA, as one of six children to the late Marion and Gladys George. Bernie was a graduate of Summerville Redbank School. He began working as a service station attendant after high school and progressed to deliver gasoline to New Bethlehem, PA farmers. Later, Bernie would proudly drive gasoline and diesel tankers to multiple service stations throughout the state. In September 1968, Bernie moved his family to Kettering, OH and began his career at General Motors Frigidaire and retired at GM Harrison Radiator after 31 years of service.
Bernie was an avid “Do-It-Yourself-er” and loved fixing and repairing all things from cars, to remodeling bathrooms and kitchens, electrical work, and plumbing. There wasn’t a job he wouldn’t tackle. He also enjoyed walking, reading, attending and serving in church, and spending time with his beautiful wife and family.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline; 2 children: Cheryl (Tom) Lanese and Alan George; 7 grandchildren: Michelle (Bill) Osmanski, Brian (Jennifer) Lanese, Matthew (Jenny) Lanese, Joshua George, Benjamin George, Aaron (Rachel) George, Rachel George; 9 great-grandchildren: Julia, Alyssa, Billy, TJ, Alex, Connor, Andrew, Aleiyah, Aubrey, (and baby boy on the way!); and 3 step-great-grandchildren: Cole, Dylan, and Tyler. Siblings: Phyllis Boddorf, Roy (Ann) George, Homer (Grace) George, Karen Rupp, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Bernie was preceded in death by his infant children, Yvonne Louise and Jamie George; his parents, Marion and Gladys George; his sister, Carolyn Malick, and brothers-in-law, Richard Malick and Richard Glen Boddorf.

A visitation for Bernard will be held Friday, July 26, 2024 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Tobias Funeral Home - Far Hills Chapel, 5471 Far Hills Ave, Dayton, Ohio 45429, followed by a funeral service at 11am. The burial will take place Friday, July 26, 2024 at 12:30pm at Miami Valley Memory Gardens Chapel, 1639 E. Lytle Five Points, Centerville, OH 45458.
