
ADAMS, Bernice of Sugarcreek Township went home to be with her Lord on Monday, June 15, 2015. She was born in Berea, Kentucky on June 22, 1920 to Oscar & Sally Burnell Shockley. Bernice was preceded in death by her beloved husband Leemon Adams, her son Jerry Adams, and her six brothers & sisters. She is survived by her son Thomas Adams (Willard) of Dayton; daughter Lisa Cooney (Henry) of Sugarcreek Township, grandsons Randy Adams of Boerne, Texas & Stephen Adams (Lisa) of New Carlisle, Ohio; granddaughters Laura Koss (Jay) of Hockessin, Delaware and Sarah Cooney of Cincinnati, Ohio and three great-grandchildren – Kaitlyn Adams, Jordan Koss, & Noah Koss. Bernice was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Dayton for well over 45 years where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many of those years. She was retired from Kettering City Schools where she served as a lunch lady for over 12 years. Bernice loved to read, do all kinds of handwork, and most of all, being with her family around a home-cooked meal. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 18th at 11:00 AM at Tobias Funeral Home – 5471 Far Hills Ave – Pastor Richard Springer officiating. Interment will be at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held before the service from 9:30 AM-11:00 AM. If desired, memorial contributions may be made in Bernice’s name to the Hospice of Dayton 324 Wilmington Ave Dayton, OH 45420
