

WERT, BETTY L., age 88, of Kettering, passed away Wednesday, October 26th, 2016, in Kettering, Ohio. Betty was born in Ragland, West Virginia and graduated in 1947, from Van High School, Van, West Virginia, as salutatorian. She arrived in Dayton, Ohio in her early 20’s to rejoin family members. Betty was widowed by Donald R. Buckey, living in Centerville, Ohio, in 1968 after 18 years of marriage. She leaves behind her loving husband, Robert E. Wert, of Kettering, sharing 39 years. Her first interests have always been her family. She was a frequent volunteer, avid reader, creative in her style. She has been a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church for over 62 years. Betty Lou is the daughter of the late Harry Arthur McCoy and late Nancy Ellen McCoy, nèe Straughan, sister to eleven brothers and sisters, half-sister to one brother and two sisters, loving mother to five daughters, seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Daughter, Candace L. Powers nèe Buckey (William), grandchildren Chad Latta and Courtney Latta(Marty), great grandchildren, Nala A. and Aruna Lou Spradling, daughter, Susie Hundt nèe Wert (Ron), grandson Adam Lee Hundt, granddaughter, Marilee A. Howard (John S.), great grandchildren, Emma and Aleeah Howard, granddaughter, Mollee Baxter (Grant R.), great grandchild Parker Baxter, daughter, Joy McLean nèe Wert (Tom), grandchildren, Alyssa A. Mueller (Kevin), great grandchild, Riley Mueller, granddaughter Annamarie McCready, daughter, Mimi Darice Buckey, and daughter, Robin Carmichael nèe Wert (Roy). She was presided by death her sisters Janice Erle Cole, Billie Dexter Hall Parker, Nancy Ellen Lally, Marlyn Tye McCoy, her brothers Harry A. McCoy, Jr., Theodore R. “Ted” McCoy, Thomas Neal McCoy, half-brother John Arthur “Jack” McCoy, half-sisters Nancy Louise Hall nèe McCoy and Helen McCoy. Surviving brothers are William S. “Bill” McCoy, James A. ”Jim” McCoy, Sherman R. “Randy” McCoy, and Robert L. “Bob” McCoy and many cousins. A Visitation and Memorial service for Betty Lou McCoy Wert will be Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Tobias Funeral Home, 5471 Far Hills Ave, Dayton, Ohio 45429, the visitation will be 5-7pm., the memorial service begins at 7 pm.
