

A visitation for friends and family will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Tobias Funeral Home, 5471 Far Hills Ave, Dayton, OH 45429. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 6, 2023 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church, 6696 Springboro Pike Dayton, OH 45449. Fr. James Manning will be officiating.
Butch was born in Cincinnati, OH on January 4, 1967. He graduated from Archbishop Alter High School and continued his education to receive a master’s degree in Human Resources from Penn State University.
Butch had a long and successful logistics career, most recently at Univar Solutions.
He deeply loved his family and friends, and enjoyed spending time listening to Reggae music and the Reggae music community, trips to Hilton Head Island, football, and fishing. Butch was an avid friend of Bill W. and helped so many find fuller lives. When he wasn’t busy helping others, Butch could be found in his backyard preparing barbecue smoked meats. Butch was recently inducted into “Gridiron Greats”, the Alter High School Football Hall of Fame.
Butch was loved by many. He is survived by his son Maxwell Hillman-Caldwell, stepchildren Christopher and Nicki, and their mother Nicola Caldwell; his beloved mother, Julia Hillman (Edward Metzger); sisters Lynne Green (Derek), Christine Rudwall (David), and brother Michael Hillman (Jennifer); nieces and nephews Phoebe, Josephine, Penelope, Natalie and Elizabeth, and Elliott.
He is preceded in death by his father, Carl D. Hillman.
