Carl was born on September 20, 1950 to Katherine and Clifford Hole in Kettering, Ohio. After Carl graduated from Fairmont East High School in 1968, he became a restaurant manager for many years. In 1975, he met Nancy Hodge and they married February 4, 1978. They went on to have 3 beautiful children, Christopher, Brian, and Andrea.
Carl was a devoted father and left a mark on the Kettering baseball community through coaching during the 80's and 90's, shaping the lives of many young athletes. Carl often encouraged these athletes to always put forth their best effort, taught them how to overcome setbacks, and taught them to never give up. It was with this same mentality and tenacity that he approached his battle with Parkinson's Disease. Despite the many challenges he faced, Carl always maintained a positive attitude and greeted everyone with a smile.
Carl found great joy in watching sports, particularly baseball, and meticulously kept stats for many teams. This was something he did as a personal hobby and also for the love of the game while coaching his kids' sports teams. If there was any question, everyone always knew Carl had diligently kept track of every detail in his scorebook.
Due to quickly progressing Parkinson's disease, Carl was forced into early retirement in 2002. Although this impacted him greatly, it allowed him more time to spend with family and friends and to watch his beloved Cincinnati Reds.
Carl was preceded in death by his mother, Katherine, father Clifford, and sister Louise. He is survived by his children Christopher (Sarah), Brian (Nicki), and Andrea (Kamel), grandchildren Maddox, Megan, Karter, Julianna, and Zachary, and other beloved nieces and family members.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the University of Cincinnati Gardner Neuroscience Institute (www.uchealth.com)

A memorial service will be held in Carl's honor on June 15, 2024 from 1 - 4 pm at the Kettering Recreation Center, in the Multipurpose room.
As he bids farewell, we remember Carl with the playful words he often shared with his granddaughter, "See ya later, alligator! After while, crocodile!" He will be deeply missed, but forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew him. Carl's legacy of love, resilience, and unwavering optimism will continue to inspire his family and friends for generations to come. May his memory be a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
