Claude Douglas Helton, 70, passed away on June 2nd, 2019 while under hospice care at The Dayton Ohio Veteran's Center Hospital from complications of Parkinson's disease. He was born on November 11,1948 in Dayton, Ohio to Conrad Russell Helton and Carrie Ann Helton. Doug grew up in Dayton, Ohio and graduated from Stebbins High School. After high school, he spent four years in The U.S. Airforce as a veterinarian's assistant. While stationed in Rantoul, IL, he also worked as a photographer for a small newspaper in Rantoul, IL. Doug later worked as a research assistant for The University of Southern California and was assigned to projects at Wright Patterson AFB, Dayton, Ohio. Doug enjoyed traveling, fishing and photography. He had been a resident of Dayton for the last 30 years. Douglas is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, David and Kerry Helton of Florida; son, Demian Helton of Columbus, OH; daughter, Morgan Short, of Orlando, FL; cousin, Sola June Roberts; nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother and sister-in-law Conrad Russell "Buddy" Helton and Janet Helton. At his request there will be no funeral or memorial service.
