I'm so sorry to hear about Dave's passing. You couldn't have found a better person to be your husband and father and I was lucky to have him as my friend. 
Dave had a unique gift in that the first time you met him you felt like you were a part of his inner circle and if you knew him for short time you felt like you were a part of his family. I'll especially remember all those week nights and weekends we spent playing softball, basketball and football together (Dave usually put the teams together), in the end it wasn't about the scores it was about the friendships we made.

Dawn, we are friends of your parents, but also lived near David when our daughter Tamara(TammyPeth)Muller and you were in school together, we came to your parents anniversary party and realized we knew David. Dear Dawn, Elise and Evan-I was so shocked when Pete just called (I'm out of town at my brother's).  Oh my gosh, Dave was special to me.  He always was so sincerely good to me. I am so sorry for Dave's passing. I have many wonderful memories of Dave, from elementary school through high school, and then at Otterbein College. One memory that sticks out happened eleven years ago. I attended the Otterbein/Capital football game. It was at Capital, and my son was a freshman on the Capital ROTC push up team for the game. That day I decided to trade in my Otterbein T shirt for a Capital T shirt, due to my son. While wearing my Capital T shirt, who do I run in to? Dave! He looked at me with a very puzzled look and said, "Ali, what are you wearing?!" Haha! I told him my son was on the Capital ROTC pushup team. Dave then said, "Ok, I will forgive you this one time" haha! Remember all those New Year's Eve parties in my parents' basement with that juke box?! Such good memories!

My sincere condolences to the family and all of those touched by Dave. I only knew Dave on the basketball court, where he always made his presence known. He was full of humor, had a great shot and was a joy to be around. I am truly sorry for your loss.

Dawn, Elise and Evan, you had the most wonderful and kind husband and father. He was always willing to help out a neighbor and enjoyed hanging out with us neighbors! He was so much fun and a great friend! Everyone loved him! He will be missed so much and I pray for comfort for you during this difficult time. A few summer's ago when we were visiting we went to Four Season's pool with Chris, and Dave & Evan met us there - in fact, I think you guys got us in with your membership! . I talked with my brother, Ron Shroder, yesterday and he told me about Dave.  Dave's family has always been close with the Shroder clan and I even had his Dad as a 7th grade teacher.  I am so sorry for your loss -- words cannot even express.
