Thinking of you today and all the great things you did for me while working for you.

I was one of the first children that David met when his Mother and Father were moving into the home at Fauver Ave. and Watervliet Ave.  In the 1940's, we both attended Belmont Elementary School on Smithville Rd. in Belmont until the eighth  grade.  David went to Stivers and  I moved away to Kettering to attend Fairmont H S where his wife Sharon Mish attended.

I knew all the Tobias boys and  see that Dan is still with us; but, I'm not sure if he will remember me.  I lived at 2360 Fauver Ave in the 1940's.   My name is Paul Wells and live in Blowing Rock, NC with my wife Pamela.  I just turned 83, 10 days ago.

My condolences and prayers for Danny and the entire Tobias family.

I was sad to learn of David's death.
I worked with David through Preferred Funeral Directors, the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, Trust100, and ICCFA, and the Ohio Funeral Directors Association.
David was a gentle soul, who always could be counted on to steady the ship.  He spoke with great thought and deliberation, choosing his words carefully.
I witnessed him on many occasions, when others were angry or annoyed, David would stand up, and silence was had in the room.
People listened to him, and I personally thought he was one of the best leaders our beloved profession has even had.
But, through it all, good times, and not so good time, David was a consummate funeral professional - I felt he just loved funeral service.
He and I lost touch several years ago, and I regret that, as I always learned something from David.  And David always, absolutely always had a kind word and thought, a good compliment to give, and he did it with sincerity.
Funeral service is very much the less with his passing.

I was introduced to Dave by his Brother Richard  in 1970! He seemed to be a very pleasant and happy man . My family had known the Tobias family for years ! They were all such compassionate and very caring people .  May Dave Rest In Peace ! 

What I remember most about David was his smile and his sense of humor. His contribution to O.F.D.A. was endless, but the time we spent with him and Sharon was most memorable.
 We would like to express our condolences to the entire Tobias family at this time... keeping you in our prayers.

To Dave, Mary Beth and all the Tobias family,  Bob and I send our condolences on Dan's passing.  We were not of the same timeline in our OFDA careers, but Dan was always very supportive and kind.

Every memory I have of David is full of joy and great laughter. David was an incredible leader and mentor.  I feel blessed to have known him and to call him my friend.  I pray that fond memories of happier times comfort you as you walk through this time of grief. 

To The Tobias Family who I had the pleasure of knowing for a long time when I met Norma and LaMar at Miami Valley Hospital back in the 1970"s. This is a beautiful family and I love all of you. Will always be grateful to Dave and all the Tobias Family for my training there after mortuary school.  Dick, Dave, Dan, Lamar,  Norma,  Marilyn Sharon and Mary Beth will always be family to Patty and me.

Dave was a great friend.  I miss the years that we served together on the Board of Directors of the Ohio Funeral Directors Assoc.  You have my deepest sympathy for your loss.

I spent many hours in OFDA Board meetings and more with Dave and he made a great impression on me from the start. A great sense of humor and a passionate funeral director, he was a steadfast supporter of our great profession and as president of OFDA he represented with great dignity. I do remember one very funny story he told about being called "truculent" in a rather contentious meeting. Always willing to poke fun at himself, he said he had to go look that word up....as did the rest of the board! He loved his profession, his beloved Sharon, and a bird who called him Dad. Prayers of comfort to Dan and the entire Tobias family.

Dave hired me as an apprentice in 1993. He
was kind and generous during my employment at Tobias Funeral Home. I will forever be grateful for the experience and opportunity to learn from some of the best in the business. My sympathy to the Tobias family. 

To all of Dave's family members, we want to express our deepest sympathy.  He was a wonderful, hard-working man, and always was so gracious.  I knew Dave through OFDA, and always enjoyed chatting with him.  He has served so many and touched so many lives, he truly will be missed.

When I think of Dave, I think of kindness. He was a great friend, fun to be with, considerate and smart. I will miss him greatly. I am so glad he was part of my life...I am better for it.

Rest In Peace Dave. I am so thankful for all the get togethers you and Sharon hosted at your farm years ago.  Wonderful memories, and reunited again I’m sure. I was so happy to run into you in the last year while I was out and about for my job. You were well respected by your neighbors around you and my other colleagues, and they spoke highly of you. Bless you!

My deepest sympathy to Dave’s family.  I have such fond memories of the times we spent together in my career with Trust 100.  So many business meeting and social times together over the years.  Trust 100 member meetings in various locales, creating and growing the Trust 100 sales center.  Dinners at the Pine Club, riding horses and staying at the farm that Dave and Sharon loved so much,   

You are now reunited with your beloved Sharon, who was called from you too soon.  You were an excellent mentor and funeral service practitioner, Dave.  I am better for having known you.  Rest in His peace.
