Dennis Craig Johnson, age 78, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026, at Kettering Hospital North. He entered peacefully into the presence of his Savior, resting fully in the assurance of his salvation. His faith was built upon the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross on his behalf, and his family takes great comfort in the promise of his eternal home in heaven.
Dennis graduated from Walter E. Stebbins High School in 1965 and retired from General Motors after over 30 years of service. In his retirement he took on various jobs including Dayton Auto Auction and Sara Lee. He was a member of Berean Baptist Temple in Fairborn and was a man who found joy in his family and his favorite pastimes. He was a lifelong, avid fan of Ohio State Football and rarely missed a Saturday cheering on his beloved Buckeyes. He also had a great appreciation for going out to eat and spending time with those he held dear. Above all else, he was a devoted family man whose greatest legacy is the love that was poured into him by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Herman J. Johnson and Wilma Lorene Johnson and his sister, Patricia Johnson. He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 54 years, Anna Maria (Baar) Johnson. His memory will be cherished by his children and their families: Derek Johnson and his wife Stephanie, along with their daughters Sofia and Lucia; Angela Aulgur and her husband Michael, along with their children Addison, Bryce, and Aubrey; Tara Hofmann and her husband Joe, along with their children Ethan, Owen, and Erin. He is also survived by his brother Daryl Johnson and his wife Christy and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He leaves behind a family who will forever remember his provision for those he loved.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dennis's life on Saturday, March 21st, at Tobias Funeral Home (3970 Dayton Xenia Rd, Beavercreek, OH 45432). Visitation: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM and Memorial Service beginning at 12:00 PM with Pastor Joe Hofmann officiating. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio.
