Donald Don Michael Cherry

CHERRY, Donald M “Don,” age 82 of Kettering, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Hospice of Dayton. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Cherry and sister, Joan Alley. Don is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, LuAnne (Shaner) Cherry; son and daughter in law, Dale and Vonne Cherry; daughter and son in law, Susan and Robert Saul; sister, Vera Corbitt; grandchildren, Michael (Jernale) Cherry, Tony (Kristen) Cherry, Michelle Cherry, Megan Myers (Ryan Duff), Ryan (Jami) Myers, Tyler Saul, Jenna Saul, as well as 4 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Don came to the United States on the R.M.S. Queen Elizabeth on January 1, 1948. From June 23, 1953 through May 23, 1955 Don served in the United States Army as a member of the 11th Airborne Division. He worked as an electrician from 1955 until his retirement in 1993. Don was a member of Local 82 IBEW Credit Union for 58 years and also a member of Belmont United Methodist Church for 60 years. A visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Belmont United Methodist Church 2701 S. Smithville Rd from 6-8pm. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at the church. Final interment will follow services in David’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cancer Research Foundation. Services have been entrusted to TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME- BELMONT CHAPEL.
