

HANSON, Donald B., age 79, passed away on September 28, 2014. He was born in Fremont, Nebraska, to the late Willard B. and Mathilda K. Hanson on December 20, 1934. He was preceded in death by his brother, Norman, in 1940. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Myrna (Walker). Also surviving are his sister Marie Odgers (Richard), his daughter Susan Mitterling (Randy) and grandsons Jacob, Joshua and Justin, his son Douglas (Lisamarie), his brother-in-law Edward Walker (Jane), his sister-in-law Connie Grosse, and nieces and nephews. He graduated from Fremont High School in 1953 and served in the United States Army’s 7th Infantry Division at Camp Casey Korea. He graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln with a BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1961. He was employed as an engineer at Wright Patterson Air Force Base where he worked on helicopters and jet engines. He graduated from the University of Dayton with an MS Degree in Engineering Management in 1978. In 1989, he retired from WPAFB and joined Universal Technology Corporation, Beavercreek, OH, where he continued work on jet engines until 2014. He loved Jesus and he loved his family. He enjoyed a life-long hobby of working on classic cars and trucks. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 3, 2014, at Southgate Baptist Church, 2111 South Center Blvd., Springfield, OH with Pastor Bobby Hile officiating. Interment will follow in Byron Cemetery, Fairborn, OH. The family will receive friends at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME – BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. at Grange Hall Rd. from 5 pm – 8 pm on Thursday, October 2, 2014.
